On 25 October 2018 Defence Procurement Minister Stuart Andrew announced that the Future Air Defence Availability Project (F-ADAPT) had been awarded to Thales UK, during his visit to ThalesтАЩ Belfast base. The MOD contract, valued at ┬г93 million, will secure over 100 jobs in the city.
Aerospace tender will improve defence ability
The F-ADAPT project aims to enhance High Velocity and Lightweight Multirole Missile systems that have been designed to intercept a wide range of air and surface threats, including enemy drones, helicopters and armoured vehicles.
This aerospace tender will not only provide the UK Armed Forces with a potent defensive ability, it will also provide employment opportunities in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland was recently praised by the Government for playing an integral role in UK defence, providing over 4000 regulars and reserves to the Armed Forces and supporting over 600 industry jobs.
Future Air Defence Availability Project
F-ADAPT is currently managed by the MODтАЩs Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) procurement agency.
