BAE Systems to recruit 700 apprentices in 2019
BAE Systems has made public plans to hire around 700 UK apprentices over the course of 2019 – a 30% increase on the previous year.
The new recruits will join BAE’s Air, Land and Maritime businesses in September 2019 and embark on one of 25 training initiatives. These will offer apprentices a valuable opportunity to combine full-time employment with study for a recognised qualification.
The air sector will account for the lion’s share of the apprentices, with almost half sited at BAE’s Samlesbury and Warton facilities. There they will have the chance to work on a diverse range of aviation projects including the Typhoon and F-35 – the world’s largest defence programme. The new recruits will also play a pivotal role in developing emerging technologies for future combat air systems, supporting UK combat air capability for years to come.

BAE Systems invests an approximate £90 million each year in education, skills and early careers in the UK. The company has around 2,000 apprentices in training across its UK at any given time, with circa 95% securing permanent roles each year.
